Love a Kid, Lock a Gun

In 2000 the Foundation sought to raise awareness of the dangers of guns in the home. Too many children have been catastrophically injured and/or killed when guns have been left unsecured and accessible to children. The Landskroner Foundation for Children has acquired gunlocks, which we are distributed to the general public to promote responsibility in homes where guns are maintained. Over 6.250 free gun and cable locks have been given away since the inception of this program.

Get the Lead out for Kids Sake

Lead poisoning is an increasing concern in the country. Thousands of children each year are effected and suffer both short term illnesses and long term injury from lead exposure. In 2008 our foundation introduced the "Get the Lead Out" campaign acquiring and distributing free lead testing kits. The tests are capable of detecting the presence of lead on surfaces which provides immediate results so adults can quickly and easily check toys, paint and other surfaces for lead content in order to assure a safe environment for children. Over 1, 120 free lead testing kits have been given away since the inception of this program.

Books and Toys for Children

Since its inception in 1998, the Landskroner Foundation for Children has been gathering books and toys for distribution to children who are in need to provide them with items they can claim as their own. The foundation solicits books and toys from the legal community of Cleveland and the publ ic at large to distribute to children in shelters and to reading programs in the community.

Music with Roots

In 2005 the Foundation partnered with the Roots of American Music Foundation to bring holiday concerts to the shelters which the Landskroner Foundation for Children supports. Roots of American Music is dedicated to ensuring that today's young people remain connected to the history and spirit of our country.

Law School Closing Argument Competition

In 1999 the Landskroner Foundation for Children held its first annual Law School Closing Argument competition. Law students from law schools across the state are selected to give a closing argument based on a child injury case. The jury is composed of members of the media, experienced plaintiff and defense lawyers, and lay persons associated with children's causes. Scholarship awards are given to the winners. *The competition ran annually before Covid and Jacks death.
